Guinea Pig Wins Homemade Taco Competition

An area guinea pig named Nacho has won a national homemade taco competition run by the Food Network.  His recipe for a bacon, lettuce and tomato taco won raves among judges and will be featured in an upcoming Food Network cookbook.

“Everyone loves bacon, so putting bacon in was almost like cheating. It’s like putting truffle oil on something,” explained judge and Food Network producer Wiley Kinnis. “So we probably actually judged Nacho’s entry harder than the others.”

But Kinnis said that Nacho really knocked it out of the park with his chipotle aioli.  

“Man the [expletive] aioli,” he said. “I still have dreams about it.”

Lamb’s Winter Look Sparks Interest From Paris, Milan

The chilly winter air prompted a Watkins Glen, NY sheep to bundle up her lamb on the way to school one morning. The duo was snapped by a fashion photographer, and the lamb’s chic jacket has been circulating in designer circles from New York to Paris to Milan.

“A lamb already wears a coat of wool,” says fashion writer Monique Rivera. “To wear a jacket on top of that is such a bold statement. It’s brave, is what it is.”

Fashion blogs are already speculating about the lines that may emerge from this single photo, though it may be spring before anything hits the runway.

Cat Annoyed by ‘Downton Abbey’ Spoilers

St. Louis, MO – Francie, a cat who has long supported public television, became very annoyed Sunday when spoilers for this season’s Downton Abbey appeared on her Twitter feed. 

Lilia Vert, a source close to the situation, noted, “Every Sunday evening, I hang out with Francie on the couch and we watch Downton Abbey. She purrs all the time during that show. But when she checked Twitter Sunday morning, she found out this season’s big twist, and was so annoyed she horked up a big hairball. Right now I think she’s responding to the person who revealed the ending, even though I warned her that reading Twitter the night of a big TV broadcast was risky if she didn’t want to be spoiled. Ah, who am I kidding. She’s already pretty spoiled.”

Kitten Friends Rent Adjacent Bookshelves

Pals Hibert and Joey have rented adjacent bookshelves in the upstairs hallway, according to rental records filed with the county clerk. The two cats, who have been buddies since college, previously shared a clothes hamper in the basement.

“They wanted more space,” said real estate agent Alice Dunham.  "Hib really wanted more room for his sardine key collection, and Joey has been learning the drums and just needed a larger area to practice.“

According to Dunham, the shelves also come with two parking spaces and access to the attic gym.

"This is a really up-and-coming neighborhood,” said Dunham. “The grandfather clock across the hall was recently rewired and there’s a new computer desk that just went into the alcove right around the corner.”
