Dog Holds Plank Pose for 10 Minutes at Pilates Class

It’s hard to believe that just six months ago Paavo had never even heard of pilates. Today the French Bulldog wowed his classmates by holding a plank pose for 10 minutes.

“I’ve never seen someone build up core strength that quickly,” said instructor Denise Skoka. “I’ve been doing this for three years, and believe me when I tell you, what he’s is doing is simply astounding.”

According to Skoka, when Paavo first joined her weekly class at the local YMCA, he was a total novice.

“Forget planking for ten minutes, he could barely keep his hips aligned,” said Skoka. But Paavo kept at it, attending two classes per week – one at the Y and one with a private instructor – and filling in gaps by watching pilates videos streaming on YouTube. 

“His improvement has been amazing,” Skoka continued. “I have students who have been doing this for years that he’s just blown past. I’m really proud of him.”

Friends say the dog is now talking mobile programming classes on Codecademy.com and plans to build an exercise app for canines.

Hedgehog Opens School for Underprivileged Youth

After a stint as an English teach in the public school system, Albert Spinestein the hedgehog became increasingly frustrated with the inequality of education.

“He saw a lot of kids falling through the cracks,” says Henry Diamond, the superintendent in the district where Spinestein taught for three years. “Every kid should get the same quality of education, but unfortunately, that’s just not the case.”

So Spinestein struck out on his own, and with some family money and donations from the community, opened Hedge County Day School.

“We focus on small class sizes and conscientious enrichment,” says Elena Brogen, a teacher who has taken on two classrooms at the new school, which serves grades one through eight. “We have the time to work one on one with young hedgehogs who need special attention. Just because you’re struggling in school doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a shot at a great education.”

San Fancisco Cat Closes Deal on 1-Bedroom Apartment

When it came to purchasing her first apartment, Sasha had very particular taste.

“It had to be cozy, new construction and a great view,” says Sandy Keller, the real estate agent who worked closely with the cat to find her new home. After looking at nearly 40 places in downtown San Francisco, she found her dream apartment.

“It’s a one-bedroom with an eat-in kitchen that’s also the bedroom,” says Keller. “What it lacks in space it makes up for in easy maintenance.”

So far, Sasha is thrilled, according to sources close to the situation. She’s already moved her collector’s plates and washer/dryer into the new space, and ordered a gently used pool table from eBay that should arrive next week.
