Russian Fat Cat Spends Big Bucks on Ego Painting
Russian export magnate and large kitty Zarathustra has dropped a reported $72,000 on a commissioned painting by Vladimir Pushnoy, one of the most renown artists in St. Petersburg. The oil on canvas is a take on Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus,” but with Zarathustra’s likeness substituted for the goddess.
“Is it in poor taste? Of course,” says Serge Serebrov, a source close to the situation. “Does Zarathustra always get what he wants? You bet.”
