Lucasfilm Taps Cat Director After Shot-For-Shot Remake of ‘The Force Awakens’

Life-long Star Wars fan Albert the cat just got the call of a lifetime.

”It was a studio exec,” says Carl Lewis, the filmmaking feline’s agent. “They saw his remake on the Internet, and they want him to direct Episode IX.”

Lewis is referring, of course, to the shot-for-shot homage Ablert uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday. Since then, it has accrued more than 16 million views. In it, he painstakingly re-creates every scene from The Force Awakens, with himself in all the roles, including the roly-poly droid BB-8.

”Lucasfilm was so impressed, they’re putting the future of the entire franchise in Albert’s hands,” says Lewis, who could hardly believe the news himself. “Er, paws.”

The final installment of the new trilogy will begin filming in 2019.
