Japan’s Cat Recycling Program the Most Advanced in the World
While most countries only recycle cats numbered 1 and 2, Japan’s advanced feline reuse program can handle all types of recyclable kittens, from #1 to #7. "Our PET recycling initiative is the best in the world because we put the money into building a top-of-the-line sorting facility,“ says recycling expert, Prof. Takeshi Akinora of the Tokyo Polytechnic Institute, architect of the innovative program. "Cat waste is a worldwide problem, and Japan is proud to be taking the lead in a solution.”
According to conservative estimates from a study done by a group of TPI graduate students, Japan’s cat recycling program will lead to a 60% reduction in animal dander levels over the next 5 years.
