Cat Composer’s 7th Symphony Panned by Critics
Gustav is widely considered one of the 21st century’s pre-eminent feline composers. His “Ode to Yarn” and Symphonies One through Six are revered by critics and fans alike.
“His seventh left me feeling a little hollow,” says Hugh Jansky, music critic for The New York Times, who reviewed debut performance at Lincoln Center. “It just didn’t have the emotional gravity of the first six. I don’t know, maybe it was the cat choir that really ruined it for me.”
