Squirrel Takes Down Holiday Decorations

A squirrel in Philadelphia’s Washington Square Park was spotted taking down his Christmas decorations this morning and stowing them in a tree hollow.

“Yeah, that’s Wilbur,” said park official Clancy Wiggum. “He’s very regimented about his trees.”

According to Wiggum, the squirrel is festive, but efficient. He puts his holiday decorations up each year the day after Thanksgiving and takes them down promptly the day before the new year.

“Before you know it, he’ll be hanging up his Valentine’s Day stuff,” said Wiggum, “though he only keeps that up for about 24 hours, then it’s on to St. Patty’s Day.”

Chinchilla Has All His Holiday Shopping Done

Last year, Morgan the chinchilla waited until the last minute to do any of his Christmas shopping and it was incredibly stressful. This year, though, the little guy decided to get a jump on things and make sure he was done before the rush.

“Not only is he completely done with his shopping,” said Yanni Laybock, a close friend, “but the little squirt is already done wrapping everything as well. He’s making me look bad!”

Last year Morgan was running around on Christmas Eve, hitting malls and stores that stayed open late to try to pick up last minute gifts. 

“I don’t think he really was able to enjoy the holiday at all,” said Laybock. So this year, the pint-sized fuzzball did most of his shopping online, spending the bulk of his present budget at Amazon and Etsy.

Guinea Pig Refuses to Upgrade to Windows 8

A 5-year-old guinea pig named Plumca (short for “Plumcake”) is reportedly the last hold-out in her office when it comes to upgrading her PC.

“She absolutely refuses to make the jump to Windows 8,” says Tom Halifax, the Director of IT at Coleridge Mutual Insurance Co. “I mean, I can’t really blame her. Windows 7 is a beautiful OS. And what’s up with the whole ‘Metro’ thing? Who needs that? But still, the latest updates close a lot of security holes in our network.”

Plumca’s resistance has included hunger strikes and chaining herself to her laptop.

“I’m not sure they can fire her over it,” says Judy Crosshaven, a co-worker. “But she’s not making the bosses happy, that’s for sure.”
