West Coast dog retailer Puppies Galore has added new registers at 10 of its stores in the hope of making payment more efficient.
The self-checkout lanes allow customers to scan and pay for puppies themselves. The lanes should cut down on the company’s labor costs, while making puppy purchasing a faster and more fluid experience for consumers.

Cairngorm McWomble the Terrible, a Maltese/Yorkie mix from San Francisco, was thrilled to receive a pink Snuggie from his grandmother. Despite specific instructions that it was only to be “worn around the house,” McWomble proudly dons his loungewear at cocktail parties, business meetings and supermarket runs.

Puppy Under Investigation After “Accidental” Fall
An area puppy is being questioned by authorities after one of his colleagues took a spill on a steep flight of stairs Wednesday morning.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and witnesses say the puppy fell into someone’s lap. But the suspicion of foul play has been too great for law enforcement to ignore.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville, KY is reporting that there has been a critical breakthrough in the ongoing cat and dog peace talks happening there.
In a bold step toward reconciliation, Ernie, a delegate for Dogs of America, offered his cherished Christmas present to Sir Remington Steel, a representative of The Cat Coalition. Mr. Steel was hesitant at first, but with the entire world watching, could hardly refuse.
While considered a mostly symbolic gesture, some experts believe the seeds of a lasting peace may have been sowed just moments ago.

Amazing Pooch Can Detect Carrots With Sixth Sense
A 9-year-old Canadian pup named Bootsie has exhibited what many are calling a “super power.” He can pinpoint the sound of a carrot with stunning accuracy.
“If I bite into a carrot anywhere in the house, he will hear it crack open between my teeth and come running as fast as he can, in hopes that I will give him some,” says Peter Locke, a source close to the situation.
Whether Bootsie will use his powers for good or ill remains to be seen.
