Local Dog Won’t Return Duplicate Christmas Scarf

A Chicago dog named Carl is refusing to return or exchange this year’s Christmas haul, despite protests from friends and family that he is taking gift etiquette to the extreme.

“Carl got the same scarf for Christmas three years in a row,” says Claire Finewell, the dog’s cousin. “This year it was from a Secret Santa exchange. He’s really good at pretending to like things when he opens them. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Joseph O’Donnell, Carl’s longtime friend, agrees: “I don’t think anyone will mind if he just exchanges it for an Xbox game or a turtleneck. He should just get what he really wants.”

Instead, sources close to the situation say that Carl will simply rotate the three duplicate scarves equally into his wardrobe and not really make a huge deal about it.

Critics: Dog’s Cooking Show ‘Too High Brow’

“Cuisine de Nero,” the eponymous cooking show from Nero the dog, has amassed over 3,500 subscribers on YouTube since launching in 2012. But critics say that the pup is missing out on a much wider audience because of his high brow approach.

“He’s got a lot of camera presence,” said BuzzFeed’s senior YouTube food editor, Colleen Ryan. “His instructions are easy to follow, but his food is just not the type of thing your average home chef wants to make.”

Ryan believes that Nero could easily have a five times the audience he has now, especially among fellow canines, if he started cooking more simple food.

“I get it,” she said. “He’s a French Bulldog, so he cooks French food. But, really, how many dogs out there are trying to make Boudin Noir Aux Pommes or Lamprey à la Bordelaise? How many can even pronounce those?”

Two Puppy Collision Shuts Down Traffic for Hours

A collision on the backyard section of the I-10 roadway shut down traffic during rush hour this morning. The accident, which involved two puppies, caused havoc for hours as police and fire crews attempted to clear the scene.

Neither dog was hurt in the incident.

“We’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened,” said Officer John Chambliss. “But we’re pretty sure texting was involved. It’s just not worth it, people. Keep your eyes on the road and your paws at 10 and 2.”
