Dog Reads Paper First Thing in the Morning

While many canines have switched to tablets and laptop computers for their news consumption, Molly still likes to read the paper each morning.  "She’s just not right until she’s had a cup of joe and the morning paper,“ says Randall Peters, a source close to the situation.  According to Peters, though Molly does own an iPad and consumes news via Twitter and Facebook throughout the day, she refuses to give up her morning coffee and paper ritual.

Vacationing Polar Bear Can’t Get Enough Sun

Willie, a polar bear from the Arctic Circle, has been vacationing in Hilton Head, SC since last Thursday.  He’s scheduled to go home tomorrow morning and he just can’t get enough sun.  Sid and Nancy Olafsson, year-round residents of the island, tell The Fluffington Post that Willie has been outside tanning from sunup to sundown since he arrived.  "He must go through three tubes of sunblock each day, easy,“ says Sid.

Kitten Loses Job at Nap Factory

Layoffs at the local nap factory have hit Suni the kitten hard.  After budget cuts at the plant forced a round of layoffs in early May, Suni found herself without a paying job for the first time in years.  According to friends, the kitten hasn’t taken it very well.  "Oh she’s been sending out resumes, sure,“ said Linda Conroy, a source close to the situation, "but I don’t think she’s slept in weeks.”

While most cats are living the high life, economists warn that kitties who do find themselves out of work will have an increasingly difficult time finding gainful employment because the demand for professional napping is at a 5-year low.

Hamster Becomes Youngest Rodent Admitted to Mensa

Abel, a hamster from Wilmington, DE, has been recognized as the youngest rodent ever admitted to Mensa, the international organization for those that score in the top two percent on a standardized intelligence test.  The two-year-old hamster reportedly has an IQ of 164, and is able to consistently press the red lever for food while avoiding the green lever, which produces an unpleasant puff of air.

Abel is planning to attend Phillips Exeter Academy in the fall.
