Local Cat Wins Award for Alertness
Area feline Clarence has been awarded the highest honor from the National Society of Alertness. The medal, given to one creature each year who “exhibits a high level of awareness of his or her surroundings,” was bestowed upon Clarence last night at a gala dinner.
“Clarence has been on our radar for a few years,” said NSA president Exicardo Morales. “He really stepped it up this year to become the most alert cat in the country.”

Puppy Celebrates Christmas In July
A local puppy has decided to dispense with waiting and celebrate his favorite holiday nearly six months early.
“Kaiser loves Christmas,” said family friend Judy Ong. “The carols, the cookies, the movies, the presents. He loves it all. He was doing pretty well waiting for the actual holiday, but about a month ago he started getting the itch. You know, humming ‘Rudolf’ all day, eating candy canes with every meal. Something had to be done.”
Their solution? A special “Christmas in July” celebration this past weekend. "We went all out,“ explained Ong. "Decorated a tree. Put Home Alone on the telly. Drank egg nog. Exchanged gifts. Kaiser tuckered himself out, but I think this will satisfy him until the 25th.”

Cat Conducts Entire Orchestra While Asleep
Giovanni, a cat who studies at the local music academy, has apparently come down with a case of “sleep conducting.”
“Oh, it’s totally a real thing,” confirmed academy provost Alex Dawson. “Sometimes, our students will become so engrossed in their studies, that they’ll start performing in their sleep. Giovanni’s case is rather advanced, though. It’s rare that we see someone conduct such a long piece, from start to finish, while asleep.”
According to doctors, Giovanni should make a full recovery.

Toronto Cat Is ‘Too Cool for School’
Researchers say a cat named Kennebunkport (Kenny to his friends) is exhibiting coolness readings that are off the charts.
“Kenny is a pretty cool cat,” says Dr. Marvin Burnette of the University of Toronto. “But when he puts those shades on, the coolness data spikes wildly. It’s hard to get a clear reading, but I think it’s safe to say he’s too cool for school.”
