For the big and tall among us, flying in the cramped confines of economy or coach is a fate worse than bus travel. On his flight home for the holidays this year, a German Shepherd named Troy took matters into his own paws.
“He asked about upgrading as soon as he boarded,” says Harold Stein, a flight attendant for Delta who was working on the plane. “We had the room, so we accommodated him right away. He didn’t give the cost a second thought.”
His two-and-a-half hour flight to New York City was made smoother by complimentary beverages, snacks, and a broad selection of new release movies.
“He was cracking up watching Trainwreck,” says Randi Melcher, who sat behind Troy the entire flight. “And who can blame him, that Amy Schumer is hysterical.”
Sources close to the situation say Troy arrived rested and ready to face his family for Christmas.
It has only been a month since Otis the cat signed a lucrative contract to be a hood ornament on the car of area podiatrist James Wellings, but sources tell The Fluffington Post that Otis has already quit.
“Things seemed to be going well,” said Alec Petrocelli, a dentist who has an office in the same building as Wellings. “But I hear the relationship started to break down last week when Otis started complaining about mouth bugs and James refused to spring for a wind screen.”
The cat’s contract included a rather larger signing bonus, which he’ll reportedly have to return.
Wellings did not return calls and a spokesperson for Otis declined to comment.
