Major Catnip Bust Rocks Local Community

The DEA announced that, in partnership with local law enforcement, the agency has successfully closed a six month investigation into major catnip trafficking syndicate based in the small town of Gibbs Falls, North Dakota. The operation ended with 12 arrests and the seizure of over 2,000 pounds of catnip. Street value: $1.4 million.

“We’re happy to get all that nip off the streets,” said agent Monica Payne, who lead the undercover operation, posing for months as a catnip buyer.

The cats involved in the ring were importing the illicit substance through Canada. Most of it was destined for Midwestern cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit. But what made this ring so dangerous, said Payne, was that they were also “cooking” the catnip into a highly additive designer drug known on the street as “scratch." 

"Scratch has ruined a lot of lives,” said Payne. “And cats only get nine.”

Scientists Now Think This Is What Dinosaurs Looked Like

Forget everything you know about dinosaurs. Those big scary reptiles you saw in Jurassic Park? Wrong. That they later evolved into birds? Bogus. That they hatched from eggs? Completely fabricated. That they had rough, lizard-like skin? Not even close.

Groundbreaking new research from a team at the University of Chicago suggests that dinosaurs actually probably looked a lot more like Corgis.

Yes, those derpy little dogs that have become stars on the Internet are our closest living link to the age of the dinosaurs.

“We’ve identified previously unnoticed characteristics in the fossil record that led us to this startling discovery,” said Professor Mason Waddington, who co-authored the paper in this month’s Annals of Paleontology about the findings. According to Waddington, the Corgi pup specifically seems to share a very strong link with dinos.

“They may look cute, but at its core, that is a ferocious beast of the past,” he said.

Man Finds Lost Bunny in Couch Cushions

A local boy was reunited with his lost bunny this morning after the animal was found stuck in the cushions of a nearby couch.

“I heard this sort of scratching sound while was sitting down to watch the morning news,” said Jason Berry, who found the rabbit. “At first I couldn’t figure out what it was, but then I saw the little bunny ears peeking up from behind the cushions.”

Berry said he was initially confused, because he doesn’t have a rabbit, but soon remembered the flyers he’d seen around town for a lost bunny.

“I thought, ‘Could that be this bunny?’ So I got the little guy out of the couch and set him up with some water and leftover beet greens from my supper last night,” he recounted. Berry then when down the street to the a telephone pole where he’d seen one of the flyers to copy down the phone number.

The boy, Matthew Harper, of 336 Pontiac Ave, was overjoyed to hear that his bunny had been found. 

“I’m just happy to have Floppers back,” he said. “I don’t even know how he couldn’t have gotten all the way across down and into that man’s couch. So weird, right?”
