Cat Quits Day Job to Run Etsy Store

College Station, TX – Henry, a local cat, originally started listing his paw-made toys on Etsy in 2011, hoping only to spread some catnip and make a few bucks. But as of Friday, he was able to quit his job as an accountant and launch a full-time Etsy career.

Kurt Marcucci, a source close to the situation, said “At first, I was skeptical of his career choice and a little worried. Not only are taxes a nightmare for the self-employed, but since Henry has no thumbs, I thought it would take him forever to make enough of those toys to pay his bills. But he’s surprised me. All of his site feedback is positive and I wish him the best of luck.”

At press time, Henry was seen testing the latest batch of toys to be certain they met his strict quality criteria.

Fear after misspelling “meow” and “purr” has left little McClane the cat frightened by social media and digital correspondence. But the New Year has him in high spirits.

“All he wanted to do was reach the keyboard, where he hoped to stop me from typing,” said Kat George, a friend of the kitty. “McClane is a wily and resourceful foe.”

McClane’s determination to type well led Ms. George to buy a keyboard protector that doubles as a scratching pad.

Local Cat Takes Forever to Play Chess Move

Merle, noted local kitten and area chess prodigy  has been unable to commit to his next move in his current game, according to sources close to the situation.  He has reportedly been considering Rook to Queen’s Bishop 4, the opening move of the classic Mittens attack, popularized by chess-playing cat Mittens in 1992, but he has been unable to commit to the strategy.

“He’s just been sitting there, silently surveying the board for five hours,” said Danny Ochoa, who covers chess for the local paper.  "It’s driving everyone nuts, but this isn’t a timed game.“

A cat’s clever disguise has paid off in treats. Every Wednesday evening, Lucy dons the guise of a mild-mannered paper bag and waits patiently on the kitchen table. Sure enough, the errant scraps fall within reach. That’s where her patent-pending porthole comes in handy.

“She’ll pop out real quick before anyone notices and just snatch up the tasty morsels,” says a witness who asked to remain anonymous, so as to protect Lucy’s secret. “If she keeps it up, she’s going to outgrow that bag costume.”
