Local Cat Is Already Sick of Summer School

Classes only just began last week in the summer session at St. Bartholomew’s High School, but already a local kitty named Marianne wants them to be over.

The cat failed two subjects – biology and French – during the school year and must make them up this summer in order to avance a grade next fall. But, said friends, she’d much rather be at the beach.

“Who wouldn’t?” asked Tom Wills, who shared a locker with Marianne. “But she has no one to blame but herself. If she didn’t want to have to go to summer school, she should have showed up to class more.”

BREAKING: Cat Stages Sit-In in Doghouse

The long-simmering conflict between the cat and the dog has finally boiled over. Late last night, the cat reportedly seized control of the doghouse, and is refusing to leave.

“This has been simmering for months,” said Fluffington Post political analyst Terrell Astor. “So, it’s not totally unexpected. The cat has been threatening an action like this for the past week, and the dog has refused to meet for peace talks.”

The conflict is mainly about a dispute over access to the prime sun spot in the living room.

Dog and Cat Wait 7 Hours for Cable Guy

Roommates Paxton and Piper knew they had a problem when their home Wi-Fi network was unable to communicate with the Internet.

“Their laptops would connect to the network no problem, but they were unable to load any websites,” says Sherri O’Neil, a neighbor familiar with the situation.

After rebooting the router several times, Paxton the cat called the cable company.

“This was at 8:30 in the morning,” says O’Neil. “Comcast said they would be there within the window of 11 and 2. I’m not sure what Pax and Piper were planning to do with no Internet for hours. It must have been awful.”

What’s worse is that Comcast didn’t show up until 3:30pm. “Seven hours from when they placed the call,” says O’Neil. “They were so anxious the whole day. I could see them peering out the front door and looking for the truck coming down the street.”

The roommates eventually got their connectivity back, and quickly turned to the Internet to blog about their customer experience.

Area Cat Downsizes to 1-Bedroom Apartment

Tired of mowing lawns and fixing leaky pipes, a cat named Kitty has sold her house in the suburbs in favor of a quaint one-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Lower-East Side.

“Does she pay more in rent than she did for her entire mortgage and tax assessment for a space about 1/16th the size? Sure,” says Marcia Coolidge, Kitty’s real estate agent. “But it’s a lifestyle thing. When you get to a certain age, you don’t want to deal with all the upkeep of home ownership. For cats, that age is three.”

So far, Kitty gets along well with her neighbors and has been spotted dining at a number of trendy local restaurants. But not everyone agrees with her recent shift in priorities.

“She sold the house at a loss in a tough market, she’s paying way too much rent just to live in a hot zip code, and her dining receipts are piling up,” says Gary Bueller, Kitty’s personal financial adviser  “It’s simply too expensive to live in Manhattan on a single cat’s salary. Especially when that cat is an assistant manager at Target.”
