Chinchilla Sued for Trademark Infringement
Mittens, a mild-mannered chinchilla from Philadelphia, has found himself embroiled in a bitter lawsuit over his very name.
“Mittens is quite obviously a feline name,” says Arnold Sawyer, the attorney filing charges on behalf of a cat family with the same moniker. “It even rhymes with kittens. I mean, come on.”
The Mittens kitten family goes back 12 generations, and senior members of the household are not too keen on a chinchilla walking around with their brand.
Opponents of the lawsuit claim the family cannot simply trademark a common word.

Sir Thomas, a guinea pig from Akron, OH, has quietly climbed up the ladder of the world Xbox rankings for a number of popular competitive games, including Halo Reach (#14 in the world), Call of Duty: Black Ops (#27), Madden NFL 12 (#104), and Gears of War 3 (#16).
But where Sir Thomas really excels is Lego Harry Potter: Year 7, where he currently ranks #3. He’ll have a chance to take the top spot this weekend when he’s set to battle the current top player, MuggleMan1986.
