Cat Community Stunned by Surfboard Theft

Two San Diego cats were excited to hit the waves this past weekend, but the only wave they experienced was one of depression when they discovered their surfboard had been stolen. 

“They had been practicing their tandem routine in hopes of qualifying for the upcoming Meow Mix Pro Competition,” their publicist, Annabelle Rowland told The Fluffington Post, “but now they’ve been left with nothing but an empty surfboard bag.” The cats haven’t left the empty bag since their devastating discovery — not even for canned food. 

The surfboard heist is the latest in a string of incidents targeting cats that have taken place throughout San Diego’s coastal neighborhoods. Just last week, a Pacific Beach tabby had his favorite laser pointer nabbed right off his front porch, and the scratching post of a calico went missing a week before that.

No suspects have been identified at this time, but police suspect the notorious “Woof Kings” dog gang could be to blame.

Pup’s Instagram Selfies Are a ‘Cry for Help’

Henry, a 6-year-old pup from San Clemente, CA, has been posting piles of Instagrams lately. None of them individually are cause for concern, but friends are worried.

“They’re all selfies with captions like, ‘just hanging out with my lewis.’ Which is fine, except Lewis is a stuffed dog,” says Jack Graham. “He’s trying to look super popular, but instead he’s just making everyone cringe.”

Experts say it may be Henry’s desire to fit in, magnified by the loneliness of social media.

“He wants to show his other friends and classmates that he’s cool,” says Dr. Alice Robertson, a canine psychologist. “But in this case, he’s coming off a little desperate.”

Henry’s family is investigating ways to broach the subject without causing him any further embarrassment.

Area Pup Pretty Sure He Was Taken to the Vet

Though details are still a bit hazy, a local dog named Duke is nearly certain he was taken to the vet.

“Apparently he was told he was just ‘going for a car ride,’” said a source familiar with the situation, “and he loves those!”

So he hopped right in. But instead the park, he was allegedly taken to a squat grey building with a mural of injured cartoon puppies and kittens painted on the front. 

“He’s certain it wasn’t the park,” said the source, “and he’s pretty sure that it was actually the vet’s office.”
