Puppy Determined to Register .Kitties Domain Name
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has released a list of the entities vying for new top-level domains. Many brands are hoping to own their trademarks (.pepsi, for example), and registrars are going after generic terms that they can sell (like .pizza).
But a puppy named Harold is determined to acquire .kitties, and sources say he may not be interested in selling registrations to others.
“He’s expressed repeatedly that if he ever gets that domain, he wants to control it,” says Luke Burner, the puppy’s former business partner. “He’ll probably just create domains like stupid.kitties and lame.kitties. It’s pretty juvenile, but he is a puppy after all.”
Harold’s application for the top-level domain (which cost him $185,000) is currently being reviewed by ICANN.
