Dog Sues Publisher Over Likeness in Children’s Book
A 9-week-old Boston Terrier named Zoe has brought a lawsuit against Wonder Books, publisher of the 1951 children’s classic The Playful Little Dog, after discovering the author used her likeness without permission.
“She doesn’t have much of a case,” says legal expert Gary Owens, who is following the lawsuit. “The book was written 63 years before she was born. Any judge with a calculator will be able to figure that out.”
Still, attorneys for the puppy are prepping opening arguments for February 20th.
