Kitten’s New Kicks Don’t Fit

A kitten named Oscar was disappointed when he opened a box from Zappos Monday morning to find the sneakers he ordered were far too big.

“He almost fit inside one of the shoes,” says Stacy Fournier, a friend of the kitty who had come over to see the new kicks. “I guess he had ordered a men’s size 8, when he’s actually a kitty size 8.”

It’s of little consequence, since Zappos offers free shipping on all returns. Still, Oscar was hoping to start his new jogging regimen this week. It will have to wait.

Cat Surfs 300 Channels, Finds Nothing Good on TV

Despite subscribing to a premium package that includes HBO, Showtime and IFC, a cat named Sid cycled through all 300 channels on the proverbial dial, looking for something to kill an hour or two.

“Nothing,” says Jim Shoreline, Sid’s roommate. “There was absolutely nothing on. Infomercials, sitcom re-runs, a crappy ‘90s movie with a ton of commercials – TV is just so boring these days.”

Shoreline says Sid simply fell asleep clutching the remote, waking up to a new episode of The View the next morning.

“He watched that,” says Shoreline. “He loves Joy Behar. Loves her.”

Kitten Puts Finishing Touches on Memoir

Though Evie the cat is only two years old, she’s already experienced a lot. There was the time the can opener broke, there was the incident with the toad that got into the basement, there was her harrowing run-in with the vacuum – just to name a few.

That’s why Evie has decided to put it all down on paper.

“She just finished off the first draft last night,” confirmed Joel Turtledove, acquisitions editor at HarperCollins, which gave the kitten a $250,000 advance – unheard of for a memoir of a relatively obscure figure.

“We think she’ll play well in the growing ‘stuff about pets’ market,” said Turtledove, citing the recent mega-successes of Boo, Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub. 

The manuscript will now go into editing, and HarperCollins expects to release the book this fall.
