GARDEN TIP: Plant Your Guinea Pigs Now
Spring is finally here, which means it’s time to start planting your cool-weather crops, if you haven’t done so already. Lettuce and broccoli are seasonal favorites, but don’t overlook guinea pigs!
Whether starting from seeds or sprouts, start your pigs in a small pot in a warm, but shady spot. Avoid direct sunlight if possible. Be sure to water your pigs daily, and use plenty of carrot tops, celery and lettuce as fertilizer.
In about 2-3 weeks, you should see some new growth. After the fourth week, your pigs should be ready to transplant into a small pig pen, lined with cedar chips and an exercise wheel. Enjoy!
