California Duckling Shows Off Impressive Stamp Collection
Despite being alive for a mere few weeks, a duckling at the San Diego Zoo has amassed what some philatelists are calling “one of the most comprehensive stamp collections in the Western world.”
The little duck’s catalog includes rare offerings from around the globe, such as the U.S. Inverted Jenny and Britain’s Penny Black.
“How he amassed this value in such a short time is beyond me,” says Ralph Darling, a postal historian who estimates the duck’s collection to be worth $1.4 million.
