Dogs Tie the Knot in Most Expensive Pet Wedding Ever
Baby Hope Diamond of New York, NY and Chilly Pasternak of Richmond, VA were wed on Thursday evening at a lavish event in New York City. The $150,000 black-tie affair, which was held at the swanky Jumeirah Essex House hotel, set a Guinness World Record for “most expensive pet wedding” and included over-the-top indulgences like a $6,000 wedding dress, a $15,000 seven-piece orchestra and $5,000 worth of gourmet sushi. The wedding was officiated by celebrity canine puppet, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
Why go through such trouble and fabulous expense to wed a pair of pooches? Baby Hope and Chilly were doing it all for charity. Everything at the wedding was donated, including a pet food buffet from a company owned by Ellen DeGeneres, and proceeds from the $250 tickets went directly to the Humane Society of New York.
The wedding, which was the brainchild of Wendy Diamond, founder of Animal Fair magazine, was originally supposed to feature her dog Lucky, herself a Guiness record holder for most photos by a dog with celebrities. However, after the 15-year-old lucky died of cancer last month, Diamond decided that the show must go on with Baby Hope in her place.
Word on the street is that the thoughtful bride also donated her gifts to the cause.
