Original Dog and Pony Show Uncovered in New England
The Boston Public Library has uncovered evidence of what many scholars believe to be the oldest “Dog and Pony Show” in North America.
This photograph, taken by Leslie Jones sometime between 1917 and 1934, offers proof that dogs and horses performed together as early as the turn of the 20th century.
“Their act was obviously quite polished when this photo was taken,” historian Mark Silver tells The Fluffington Post. “They were likely performing for years before Jones snapped the candid.”
