Chicago Dog Diagnosed With First Case of the Mondays

By Anna Washenko, FluffPo Correspondent

A Chicago-area dog as been diagnosed with the first confirmed canine case of the Mondays in the United States.

Biggles, a long-time resident of Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, noticed a few months ago that the start of the week was frequently bringing him down. Every seven days, he’d have a hard time rousing himself and had trouble focusing on normal tasks.

Veterinarian Anne Harvenberg made the diagnosis.

“The Mondays has been pretty prevalent in humans for years,” Harvenberg said. “This is our first confirmed cases in dogs, though. That’s pretty big news.”

Harvenberg explained that a lot of folks thought the Mondays was just a myth in pups. Yet, she said, despite their care-free natures, many dogs feel just as much pressure as their human counterparts at the start of each week.

“Just like for humans, canines have to prepare for another week of hard work: being cute, wagging their tails, and playing fetch,” she said. “And at least humans get the weekend off. Dogs are dogging it 24/7.”

This diagnosis is a huge step forward in canine well-being because Mondays treatments for dogs might finally be covered by insurance carriers. Harvenberg recommended that anyone in close contact with a dog that may have a case of the Mondays give the puppy extra love and affection at the start of the week.
