Entrepreneur Randy Shipley received five “no” votes for his invention, the “E-Z-Store Dog,” on a recent episode of the reality television show Shark Tank.
“I was feeling good going into the presentation,” said Shipley, who began selling the E-Z-Store Dog hanger attachment out of his van in Richmond, VA last year. “The sharks had funded the two businesses before me and they seemed to be feeling generous.”
He got the most interest from Mark Cuban, who he could see the usefulness for people with small closets. But ultimately, Cuban and the other sharks passed because they felt the margins were just too small for Shipley to be successful at scale.
“It was a good experience,” said Shipley, who said his website has seen a 10x uptick in traffic since the appearance. “I’m going to keep on going. I have my life savings already sunk in this. No stopping now!”
