Puppy Ready for World Cup

Shogun, a bulldog pup from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is extremely excited for the World Cup. While there are serious questions about whether Rio will be prepared for the 3.5 million soccer fans who will descend on the city next month, Shogun, at least, is ready. 

“That dog was born ready,” said close friend Thaís Melo. “He loves football and this will be the proudest moment of his life.”

Melo says the dog has been playing soccer ever since he was a puppy and just recently made the under 14 national team (he’s two in human years). His team is being invited onto the pitch for pre-game ceremony before a first round game next month.

“He’s so excited, I think he might pee a little,” said Melo. “But I mean, he’s a dog, so that’s normal.”
