Guinea Pigs Give Olive Garden Endless Salad High Marks

According to a national survey by the Association of American Chain Restaurants, the endless salad at the Olive Garden has received the highest possible marks among guinea pigs.  According to the survey, guinea pigs actually prefer the salad to anything else on the menu.  Coming in second for customer satisfaction among the rodents was the carrot cake at The Cheesecake Factory.

Shy Squirrel Hides Face With Tail

According to reports, a squirrel model at a shoot for stock photography company Getty suddenly became extremely self-conscious and hid behind her voluminous tail during a photo session.  Friends aren’t sure what exactly came over the normally out-going rodent, but photographers kept snapping.  The result is a series of “coy squirrel” photos that Getty says will actually fill an important niche in their collection.

‘Take a Ferret, Leave a Ferret’ Trays No Longer in Use

Sometimes you need an extra ferret or two. Sometimes you have a spare ferret in your back pocket.

That’s the concept behind the “Take a Ferret, Leave a Ferret” trays you used to find at many a cash register. It was a communal honor system of ferret-powered goodwill.

“People just aren’t paying with ferrets as much as they used to,” says Linda Cole, economist and animal currency expert.

Hamster Chef Lands Food Network Series

You might not be familiar with the culinary stylings of Zoey, a 6-month-old hamster from Brookyln, NY. But come this fall, her face will be all over your cable dial.

That’s because The Food Network is putting big bucks behind her new cooking show Hello Jell-O!, based on the book of the same name. In it, the adorable hamster will be whipping up delightful desserts with everyone’s favorite Cosby-approved treat – Jell-O.

“Not only is she a great chef, but her personality is infectious,” says Kylie Wenner, a Food Network producer. “We’re fairly confident that Zoey will be the next breakout star.”
