Academic Puppy Learning to Play Patty-Cake

Thanks to extensive exposure to a young child in his family life, Jasper has made a thorough study of clapping games. His latest topic of inquiry is the perennial favorite patty-cake. 

“Our daughter Lily just turned five, and she’s really into patty cake,” mother Ellen Frank explained. “Jasper’s been seeing her play every day and he picked up the game in no time. The two seem to really like playing together.”  

Lily agreed that Jasper was an excellent partner for the clapping game. “He’s so cute!” she squealed. 

Sources close to the puppy said he had no plans to rest on his good looks. After he masters patty-cake, Jasper wants to conduct a critical study of the regional differences between the rhymes and rhythms.

Cat Sushi Master Passes on Her Craft

Feline sushi master Suki announced over the weekend that she will be retiring in 2015. The cat has been drawing crowds to her tiny eight seat sushi restaurant in London’s South Kensington area since it opened six years ago. The current wait list for reservations is three months long, and a ten plate tasting menu costs £250.

“Suki is pushing twelve years old now, and it’s time for her to retire,” said noted food critic Augustus Hale, who once proclaimed that Suki’s sushi was the best in Europe.

According to the cat’s official Twitter page, she has been teaching the art of sushi preparation to her younger brother, Hari, for the past three years. Hari will be taking over the shop after Suki’s retirement.

“If not for Suki, I think Hari would be the best in Europe,” said Hale by email. “but he’s still only maybe 75% of the way to Suki’s mastery.”

Kitten’s First Baking Adventure Goes Awry

After watching hours of shows on the Food Network, Rudy the cat decided he was ready to try his first experiment in the kitchen. He found a simple recipe for chocolate chip cookies that seemed to be within his ability. 

The aspiring young chef was able to acquire a mixing bowl, but rather than fill it with flour and sugar, he decided it would be best used as a spot to curl up and rest.

“I can tell you where he went wrong,” said chef and restauranteur Rochelle Harrison. “Cookies are simple: butter, eggs, flour, sugar, chocolate chips. But no cat. Rudy added too much cat to the bowl.”

It seems that this young kitten might be better off leaving treat preparation to the professionals.
