Cats Declare Victory in War on Wrapping Paper

It was a long, hard fight, but on Saturday, Roswell and Rask were able to say with certainty that they had conquered their most diligent adversary.

“Yeah, that wrapping paper is as good as gone,” says Debra Flack, the cats’ owner. “We’ve tried our best to keep it from them, but there was no saving it this time.”

Roswell and Rask gained a significant foothold last March during the Battle of Timmy’s Eighth Birthday, when they laid waste to several enemy outposts.

“We almost switched to gift bags after that,” says Flack. “Looking back, we really should have. Cats don’t like bags, do they?”

Puppy Can’t Break Soda Habit

Scraps the dog has been trying for months to cut back on his caffeine and sugar intake. But he’s learned the hard way that forbidden fruit does taste the sweetest.

Although friends and family have supported Scraps in his efforts to quit, he has backslid on multiple occasions.

“He’s a fiend for Dr. Pepper,” roommate Michelle Dobbs said. “I came into the kitchen one day and found him rolled over, trying to drink every drop out of the last can we had. It was pathetic, really.”

The pup’s inability to kick the soda habit isn’t for lack of trying. He spent some time last month visiting a nutritionist, with the unfortunate name Chrissy Pepper.

“She had a name plate on her office door reading ‘Dr. Pepper,’” said Dobbs. “Needless to say, Scraps couldn’t handle it.”
