Puppy Spends Life Savings on Commissioned Painting

Noted antique collector and local dog Smithers is happy with a recently commissioned portrait for his living room, even though it cost a small fortune.
“Smithers really loves it,” said Tamryn Malick, an area art dealer who connected Smithers to the artist. “I find it a bit over the top, but there’s no accounting for taste.”
According to Malick, Smithers sold his prized possession – a newspaper from the day the Titanic sank – to pay for the art work.
“It was hard for him to part with that, I think,” said Malick. “But it’s probably for the best. I bet he would have ended up just chewing it to bits anyway.”

German Shepherd Splurges for First-Class on Flight Home for Christmas

For the big and tall among us, flying in the cramped confines of economy or coach is a fate worse than bus travel. On his flight home for the holidays this year, a German Shepherd named Troy took matters into his own paws.
“He asked about upgrading as soon as he boarded,” says Harold Stein, a flight attendant for Delta who was working on the plane. “We had the room, so we accommodated him right away. He didn’t give the cost a second thought.”
His two-and-a-half hour flight to New York City was made smoother by complimentary beverages, snacks, and a broad selection of new release movies.
“He was cracking up watching Trainwreck,” says Randi Melcher, who sat behind Troy the entire flight. “And who can blame him, that Amy Schumer is hysterical.”
Sources close to the situation say Troy arrived rested and ready to face his family for Christmas.
