Puppy Unable to Secure Tennis Partner

A local golden retriever puppy named Nacho has been unsuccessful in his attempts to pin down a partner for his doubles tennis match next weekend.

“If he can’t find a teammate, he’ll have to forfeit,” says Howard Jones, the referee who oversees the Saturday doubles matches. “I know that will just eat him up inside. He’d rather partner with Jabba the Hutt than throw in the towel like that. He’s very stubborn.”

Area Dog Loves ‘New Carpet Smell’

Bruno the pug loves the way a new carpet smells after it has just been cleaned. That’s why the area dog was absolutely in heaven this weekend when he had new carpeting installed in his bedroom.

“I’m sure it feels good on his toes, too,” said roommate Doug Ellis, “but he really did this for the new carpet smell. And he’s milking it for all its worth. He’s been upstairs with his face buried in the rug since yesterday.”

Ellis expects that Bruno will probably stay in his room with his new rug until the smell begins to fade.

Puppy Works Frantically to Complete Science Fair Poster Board

When Roxy the pug first started charting the growth of lima beans for the 6th grade science fair, she thought she had this one in the bag. Easy A.

But then the puppy mixed up the dates on her calendar and forgot to finish her poster board.

“Something about the calendar on her iPhone not syncing correctly with Google,” said her teacher Mrs. Mills. “It’s not my problem – she knew when it was due and so I expect to see her complete project on that date. No exceptions, no extensions.”

Because of Mrs. Mills’ hardline approach, Roxy plans to work all through the night tonight so she can have her poster board ready for display at the fair tomorrow.
