Dog Begrudgingly Turns a Year Older

The balloons had been blown. The presents had been wrapped. The stage had been set for the greatest birthday ever. Unfortunately, Nova the dog wanted nothing to do with it.

“As soon as she saw the party invitations she knew immediately what was going on,” says Kyle Fuller, the pooch’s owner. “She’s only two, but she’s apparently not keen on birthdays.”

Though it took a considerable amount of coaxing, Nova finally sat down for her birthday steak – at least long enough for a few pictures. Afterwards, the dog was reported to have retreated to the couch “for some alone time.”

“She’s just really not big on the whole concept of aging right now,” says Fuller. “I’m glad she hasn’t heard about dog years.”

Looking a spot to catch some R&R this summer? Consider the Pug Caves of Northern Wales.

Though the vacation spot is only accessible by boat, it is nonetheless popular, attracting nearly 35,000 visitors each year. The best times to visit are mid summer – during mating season, and early fall, for the arrival of the puppies.

Hiking to the caves takes about two hours (plus the hour long ferry ride) and is moderately difficult. Wear close-toed shoes and bring a sweater – the caves can get chilly even in summer.

Dog Chaperone Doesn’t Allow Funny Business on Date

When asked by a co-worker to tag along on his son’s date, Mabel the dog took that task to heart.

“She doesn’t go anything halfway,” said Tom Wormly, who requested that the dog tag along and keep an eye on his son during a recent date. “Mabel’s commitment knob is always turned up to 11.”

Mabel reportedly made sure that the date was thoroughly chaste and wholesome, requiring a distance of two feet between the couple at all times. Not everyone was pleased with the outcome, though.

“I’m 27,” said Steven Wormly, Tom’s son. “My dad is a bit too overprotective. I mean, I love that dog, but she needs to butt out of my personal life.”
