Local Dog Strikes It Rich With Metal Detector
Many in his circle of friends scoffed when Arnold, a chocolate lab, bought a metal detector. "I’ll admit it. I laughed. We all did,“ says friend Leo Porter. "I though it was a waste of money. Who really ever finds anything but junk with those things?”
But Arnold had the last laugh when late last week he found a cache of Spanish gold dubloons buried near his coastal South Carolina home. The coins are estimated to be worth nearly $1 million and Arnold plans to auction them through Christie’s later this month.

Oklahoma Beagle Obsessed With Walks
Munchie, a purebred beagle from Tulsa, OK, has an unhealthy fixation with walks, according to his psychologist.
“The mere sound of a leash being picked up or a door opening sends him into a frenzy,” says Dr. Laura Nilsen, who counsels Munchie on his compulsive behavior. “I mean, get a grip man, it’s just trip around the block so you can poop.”

Puppy Unable to Sort Whites From Colors
A local pup named Gracie has had a tough time getting the laundry done.
“Sorting the whites from the colors is a real challenge for her,” says Jamie Weddell, owner of the Suds Bucket laundromat where Gracie goes to do her wash. “She’s color blind, but I always have someone from the staff make time to help her out.”
