Until now, it was thought dogs could never master the fabric arts. But a pup named Gaston has sent shock waves through the crafting community when he began embroidering messages on throw pillows.
“He’s communicating the best way he knows how,” says Lief Anne Stiles, a source close to the situation. “Through handicrafts.”

A 1-year-old cat from New York City is in the running to make the U.S. Hide-and-Seek team for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
If Mr. Frickles can stay hidden for the next three hours, he will have all but clinched his ticket to London. The deciding factor may come down to whether his chief competitor, a cat named Rosebud, is able to seek out her partner in a concurrent match.

Migrant Farm Puppies Face Deportation
U.S. Immigration authorities have detained four puppies in southern California who were not able to present their identification documents Monday afternoon. The puppies are suspected of partaking in undocumented migrant farm work.
“If they are indeed illegal aliens, we’ll have to deport them,” says USCIS officer James Fisher. “They don’t speak English, so it’s hard to get any useful information.”

Analysts: A Hamster in Hand Worth Two in Bush
An increasing number of researchers agree that having a hamster in hand is twice as valuable as having two in the bushes.
“If you’re holding one hamster, it’s a known quantity,” says Richard Voakes, an analyst with the Hamster Institute of America. “Sure, two in the bush will give you more hamsters, but who knows where they are or if you can catch them? You’ll save more time focusing on the one you’ve already got.”
