Luxury Hotelier to Hire Cat Restroom Attendants
Upscale hotelier The Provantis Group, proprietors of establishments like The Barksdale in Beverly Hills, The Meowington in New York and the Litter Down Suites in Miami Beach, has announced a plan to hire feline restroom attendants for all of its east coast properties.
The cats will be responsible for handing guests towels and generally making sure the atmosphere in the public bathroom areas is relaxing. "We cater to a very particular clientele,“ said James Ogilvy, VP of Guest Services. "We’re confident that our new cat attendants will increase guest satisfaction across our entire portfolio of luxury hotels.”

Overstock.com Announces Kitty Packaging Now 100% Recyclable
Internet retailer Overstock.com has announced that all cats purchased on its site after June 1, will be shipped using 100% recyclable and biodegradable shipping and packing materials. "The environment is very important to us,“ said Overstock spokesperson Linda Hammonton. "We know that when people shop for cats at Overstock.com they not only care about price, but they also care about their effect on the world around them. That’s why we’ve committed to making our kitty sales department carbon neutral by 2014.”
That’s a much more ambitious plan than the industry-wide “Kittyoto Accord,” signed by 143 Internet retailers last year, which called for a 50% reduction in carbon output for cat sales by 2015.

TSA Reverses Rule on Carry-On Dogs
Someone at the TSA must love dogs. According to a press release, the TSA has changed its long-standing rule that all carry-on dogs must be removed from their traveling cases when put through security scanners. The new rule, says the TSA, allows for dogs weighing under 18 pounds to pass through security without being removed from luggage.
Unfortunately, cats must still be unpacked for all airport security checkpoints.
