Dog’s Abstract Paintings Fetch Millions at Auction
Raphael, a golden retriever from Madrid, Spain, has set the art world on fire with his abstract paintings, two of which sold over over $3 million at an auction last week.
Being hailed as the greatest animal painter since Picowsso, the dog has become one of the most sought-after artists of his generation. His rise to fame is all the more dramatic since just a year ago he was living in a pound in Valencia.
“His paintings capture the anguish of being a stray dog,” said art critic Tomas Alonso. “Take the painting that sold last week at Sotheby’s, ‘Flea Bitten in Blue.’ You can’t look at that and tell me you don’t feel the pain. The sorrow. The shame. It’s a masterpiece.”
Raphael’s work will be displayed at the MoMA in New York City as part of a traveling exhibit of canine artists in January of 2016.

Frozen Pipes Rob Local Cat of Shower Power
Totosha was getting ready for work Wednesday morning when it happened.
“He was brushing his teeth, but instead of hearing the shower come on, it was just this sputtering sound,” says Sam Oswell, the cat’s friend and longtime roommate.
No water, and further inspection from a plummer confirmed their fears. The bathroom pipes were frozen.
“I don’t mind the winter too much, but Totosha is so sick of it,” says Oswell. “We’re so close to spring, but this cold snap is wearing him down. If he doesn’t have a hot shower in the morning, you can kiss his productivity goodbye.”

Area Dog Blows Call-Back Interview With HR
Magnet has been out of work for nearly four months after his layoff from a mom and pop accounting firm in Boise, ID.
“He’s been really depressed about it,” says Marilyn Kirk, a friend of the listless pup. “It took him a while to work up the nerve to apply for another CPA job.”
But he did last week, and after an initial call with a hiring manager, was brought into the office for a meeting with the HR department.
“That’s where it totally went off the rails,” says Kirk. “He was so nervous. When they asked him his biggest weakness, he peed right on the director’s desk. He couldn’t help himself.”
Magnet has not received a follow-up interview as of this writing.
