Hamster Reviews New Kindle Fire HD
Though most tech writers reviewed the latest line of Kindle Fire tablets last month, hamster tech expert Millie likes to take her time with new devices. That’s why she waited until today to publish her full review of the new Kindle Fire HD.
Verdict? She loves it.
“Millie was very pleased with the new Kindle Fire HD,” said her editor, Jane Ford. “It’s faster, the screen is better and you can’t beat Amazon’s library of media content.”
Millie’s review covers the 7" version of the tablet. She’s still working on her review of the 8.9" model because, as Ford told us, “it takes longer for her to navigate the bigger screen.”

Bulldog Plans to Draft Alec Baldwin for NYC Mayoral Race
A New York City bulldog named Skip has announced his intention to draft actor Alec Baldwin into the 2013 NYC mayoral race. The contest, which has yet to begin in earnest, figures to be wide open as the term-limited current mayor, billionaire Michael Bloomberg, will not be able to run.
Early favorites in the race include City Council speaker Christine Quinn and former Comptroller William Thompson, Jr. who was narrowly defeated by Bloomberg in 2009. So Baldwin figures to be a longshot. But that’s not stopping Skip, who plans to launch a web petition to draft the actor.
“Skip thinks Alec would make a great mayor,” said longtime friend and collaborator, Amos Watkins. "Everyone knows how much Alec loves the city. You saw those New Era commercials with John Krasinski last year during the MLB playoffs, right? That stuff was gold.“
According to the AP, Baldwin has no intention to run for mayor at this time, though he has considered it in the past.

Cat Wins Recipe Contest With Nutella Creation
If there’s one thing local cat Paris knows, it’s how to lick a spoon of Nutella. That’s why it was no surprise to friends that the kitty placed first in the feline division of a recent desert recipe contest run by Good Housekeeping magazine.
“Paris can’t get enough Nutella. Anything with hazelnuts, really,” said roommate Amelia Wu.
According to editors at Good Housekeeping, Paris’ recipe won for its uniqueness.
“Yes, it was just Nutella on a spoon, which isn’t really a refined dessert,” said associate food editor Andrew MacMillan. “But it’s slim pickings in the feline division. Mostly we just get ‘saucer of milk’ this and ‘salmon flakes’ that. Blech. At least Nutella on a spoon is legitimately delicious.”
