Chicken Can’t Remember Why He Crossed the Road

Sammy the chicken crossed the road earlier this morning but once he reached the other side, onlookers said he appeared confused and out of sorts. He spent some time pecking the ground nonchalantly, to cover, but it was clear that he had forgotten why he crossed the street in the first place.

“I feel really bad for him,” said Cheryl Hawkins. “Really, I do. Everyone is always asking him that question, and now even he doesn’t know the answer.”

Sammy has been having memory problems recently, according to friends. Yesterday he crowed at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, instead of dawn, for example. 

“It threw thew whole farm out of whack,” said one friend. “We all overslept and then Sam cockle-doodle-doos at nearly sundown. Threw us for a loop.”

Dog Scores #1 Hit with ‘I Whip My Tail Back and Forth’

Yoshi the dog is flying high this morning after it was revealed his breakout single, “I Whip My Tail Back and Forth” has climbed to number one on the Billboard pop charts. At just 18 months old, he is the youngest puppy artist to have a number one hit.

The single, which was released on January 1, has already sold 350,000 copies on iTunes, and is the second bestselling ringtone on Verizon after “Royals” by Lorde.

“Yoshi really came out of nowhere,” said Rose Cook, music editor at Flavorwire. “His first single goes to number one in a couple of weeks, and now you can’t go anywhere without hearing it.”

Some pundits think that Yoshi was snubbed at this year’s Grammy Awards, where they think he deserved a nomination for either Record of the Year or Best New Artist. But even lacking a Grammy nod, it will be hard to escape the dog’s fist pumping tune this year: it has already been selected as the official warm up song for Team USA at the Sochi Olympic Games.

Hamster Wins Xbox Tournament

Microsoft isn’t the only big winner in the world of Xbox this past week. The company announced record revenue on Thursday, in large part fueled by robust sales of its Xbox One and Xbox 360 entertainment consoles.

But the real big winner in Xbox world this week may be Grizz the hamster (gamertag: Hambone37). Grizz won a huge Halo: Spartan Assault tournament, sponsored by Mountain Dew. 

And that’s just the latest achievement in a month full of them. 

“He’s on fire recently,” said Brigit Thomas (gamertag: Sunshine Brigade). “Hambone has been untouchable. It’s really been unprecedented.”

All told, Grizz has won seven tournaments since the start of the year, and taken home winnings totally $47,500 (though much of that is the 2014 Toyota Tundra he won at a tournament in Las Vegas during CES).
