Cat Prefers ‘New York Times’ Metro Section
Noel, a cat from Brooklyn, NY, still subscribes to the print edition of The New York Times, despite its waning circulation. He doesn’t read it, of course. It’s for sleeping on, and only certain sections will do.
“He only sleeps on the Metro section,” says Kenneth Rosen, a source close to the situation. “Science gets shredded and Food gets eaten.”
STUDY: Twitter Kills Feline Productivity
According to a new study from the Pew Research Center, Twitter is a terrible drain on the productivity of cats. Researchers tracked a group of 150 cats throughout the workday in the largest known study of its kind and found that the number one reason cats get distracted from napping is Twitter.
“Cats, especially house cats, love Twitter,” said lead researcher Roger Colles. “It allows them a unique channel to stay connected while also providing an outlet for their vanity.”
However, says Colles, Twitter is also a major time suck. "There are many valuable napping hours wasted tracking the latest hashtags,“ he said.

Cat Pledges to Grow Own Catnip
In an effort to go green, Mitzy the cat has decided to grow her own catnip.
“Most catnip is grown in Mexico and then imported to the U.S.,” said friend Tino Wells. "The shipping uses a lot of fossil fuels and puts tons of CO2 into the air, not to mention that you have no way to be sure what sort of pesticides were used to grow the nip.“
Mitzy calculates that she can grow a year supply of the plant for her and a friend using just a couple of window boxes. She’ll grow using strictly organic methods.

Agoraphobic Cat Is Not Looking Forward to Trick-or-Treaters
Doctors diagnosed area cat Henry with agoraphobia last winter, but thanks to regular treatment, he’s been coping well. But with Halloween just around the corner, he’s not looking forward to receiving visits from trick-or-treaters.
“Opening the front door to strangers – especially ones wearing scary costumes – really freaks him out,” says Chad Budkiss, a friend of the cat. “The doorbell or a knock from outside is enough to put him on edge.”
