Husky Kills at Open Mic
by Anna Washenko, FluffPo Correspondent
Aspiring blues singer and noted canine howler, Lupo the dog performed to universal acclaim at the open mic last night at Rose’s Lounge. The Memphis bar has the reputation of being a proving ground for the next generation of blues and folk acts and frequent guests include agents and festival organizers.
Friends close to Lupo said that a strong outing at the open mic could be the big career break he needs.
The dog performed a rousing rendition of the classic “Hound Dog,” as well as an original composition titled “Husky Pup Blues,” which was generally well received.
“I’m pretty impressed by Lupo so far,” said talent scout, Miles McGee, who attended the open mic. “He’s a little too well-domesticated to be a Howlin’ Wolf, but he’s still on the right track.”

Cat Artist Debuts New Installation
by Scott Friedstein, FluffPo Correspondent
Art fans in the Los Angeles area have something new to check out this weekend – the acclaimed artist Ron the cat has just unveiled his latest collection of works. Scheduled for display until late March, the installation showcases just some of the pop art that Ron has become renowned for.
“Most people think pop art is a 60’s thing,” says modern art critic Norman Freese. “Warhol and Lichtenstein certainly led the way back then, but Ron is blazing the trail for a whole new generation of artists. It’s really exciting.”
Among the works is “Cat Diptych,” a silkscreen painting of none other than Ron himself. The piece is expected to fetch a high sum at auction.
“Ron’s works are highly valued in the contemporary art market,” says Freese. “These pieces will likely net six figures each – though I doubt they’ll command the price ‘Tuna Fish Cans’ did. That thing made a killing.”
