YMCA Doggie Pool Re-Opens After Renovations
The doggie lap pool at the local YMCA has re-opened after extensive renovations, according to activities director Angie Tilchen. The pool needed to be completely resurfaced after a large tear was found in its lining in October.
“In addition to the new pool lining, we also upgraded the filtration system and repainted the locker rooms,” said Tilchen.
The YMCA pool is a popular winter hangout for local dogs, who like to get exercise by swimming laps. According to Tilchen, the renovations cost $32,000 and were funded in large part by grant money.

Cat Leaves Driver’s License at Home
By the time Milo the cat realized he’d left his wallet at home, it was too late. He’d already been pulled over by police for a busted tail light, and what would have been just a tag indicating a five-day grace period in which to get it fixed turned into a $180 citation for driving without a license.
“He intends to argue it at court,” said Frank Wojiek, a source close to the situation. "Milo claims he was only about a mile from home and he had already turned around to go back and fetch his wallet.“
The kitty is due in court on the 14th. If he loses his appeal, he’ll also be on the hook for $75 in court fees.

Bunny Plans to Go All Vegan
As part of a New Year’s resolution to lose weight and lower his risk of heart disease, a local bunny named Tamotsu has decided to try eating strictly vegan in 2013.
“Tam got some bad news from the doctor at a check up last week,” said close friend Peter Miles. “His blood pressure was 125 over 85 – prehypertension. His doctor recommended some dietary changes.”
According Miles, Tamotsu will be switching to a diet mostly consisting of leafy greens and the occasional carrot.
