Kitten Caught Swindling Tourists in Istanbul

A kitten offering tours to wayward travelers has been apprehended in Istanbul, Turkey. Authorities there say he is not a licensed tour guide, though his scheme generated more than $200,000.

“He seems really cute and trustworthy,” says Fahri Demir, Istanbul’s tourism minister. “But he’ll just take your money and drop you off in a ‘historic alleyway,’ then disappear. It’s bad for our city.”

Puppy Crop Now In Full Bloom

It’s late May, which means those puppy bulbs planted in January are finally ready to burst.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects a bumper crop of puppies this year, with labradors and goldens among the top yield.

Local Pup Thinks Community Pool Is a Bit Cramped

According to friends, area French bulldog Alistair has had it up to here with the so-called community pool.  "It’s cramped, it’s not clean and they charge five dollars for entry,“ said one friend.  "Alistair is just fed up.  He moved to this neighborhood in part because of the amenities, but the lack of upkeep is driving him nuts.”

Friends says the dog is planning to mount a full-scale community campaign to get the pool fixed up.

Why Bunnies Should Buy Farm Fresh Celery

Why Bunnies Should Buy Farm Fresh Celery

In blind taste tests, 4 out of 5 rabbits can’t tell the difference between celery purchased at a local supermarket and that bought directly from farmers.  That’s according to a new study out today from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Still, experts advise that while store brand celery might save a few cents, it is better to purchase farm fresh when available. “Not only can you talk directly to the people who grow your celery and find out what went into it – pesticides, fertilizers, labor practices – but you’re also supporting local food systems,” says Katie Greenhorn, the founder of Southern California Rabbits for Real Food, an organization that helps small farmers sell directly to bunnies.
