Bunny Treats Herself to Weekly Salon Visits

Bunny Treats Herself to Weekly Salon Visits

In these tough economic times many rabbits have been forced to cut non-necessities out of their budgets.  However, psychologists advice that it is important for bunnies to treat themselves to a luxury every now and then.  That’s why Sylvia, a rabbit from Oak Ridge, TN, visits the salon each week.

“Since being laid off from the laboratory last fall, Sylvia had been pretty depressed,” says friend Edith Weintraub.  "But when she started budgeting a little cash for weekly salon visits, her whole outlook brightened.  And girl, she works that ears back look!“

Dog Makes $150 Performing on Street Corner

Clyde, a dog and street performer in Austin, TX, reportedly pulled in $150 in a single Saturday afternoon with his unique brand of freestyle hip hop that many are calling “beatbarking.”

“It was awesome,” said one onlooker at a recent performance.  "He’s able to harmonize his barks and growls and yips to create some real depth of sound.  I’ve never really heard anything like it.“

Clyde’s manager, Steve Counsel, says much of the dog’s success can also be attributed to his sense of style. "He’s a true showman,” said Steve.  "The whole package.“

Clyde can generally be seen Saturday afternoons at the corner of South Congress and Monroe Street.

Guinea Pig Voted ‘Most Likely to Succeed’ by Classmates

Waffle the guinea pig was delighted to learn that his peers had voted him “Most Likely to Succeed,” an honor bestowed at this morning’s yearbook committee meeting.

“He doesn’t have the best grades in the school,” says Cynthia Kimmel, Waffle’s classmate and good friend. “But he is really creative and very responsible. Everyone knows he’ll go on to do great things when he graduates.”

Officials: Hamster Duplex Development Is a Go

The long-contested hamster duplex project on Fig Street was approved by city officials on Wednesday morning.

“The apartment complex will bring affordable housing to hundreds of area hamsters and the construction will create an estimated 75 jobs,” city councilwoman Carrie Sinclair said at a press conference.

But detractors argue that those jobs are only temporary, and that building low-rent apartments on one of the city’s precious few open spaces could be a blight.

“Why not a hamster park, or a hamster fountain?” asks Colin Bard, who plans to protest the groundbreaking in June. “The only one who benefits from this project is the real estate developer. He’s enjoying a hefty tax break, I might add.”
