Cat Unimpressed by Mars Rover Landing

When the NASA rover Curiosity touched down on the surface of Mars early Monday morning, it was hailed as an unprecedented feat of science and human achievement. The world was captivated as the spacecraft made its final descent, reaching the red planet after a 352 million mile journey. It seemed everyone was in a state of awe.

Everyone, that is, except Ivy. According to sources, the Romanian cat was simply unmoved.

“She didn’t see what the big deal was at all,” says Bogdan Dumitrescu, a friend. “I was like, ‘That thing just landed on Mars! Isn’t this exciting?’ She wasn’t having any of it.”

After halfheartedly gazing at the computer screen, Ivy is reported to have licked her paw and yawned before promptly going to sleep.

“I thought she’d be really interested,” says Dumitrescu. “I guess that’s what I get for waking her up, though.”

Hamster Prepares for First Space Mission to Mars

Yamster Hightower, a hamster from Brooklyn, NY, will attempt to become the first hamster to orbit Mars when his space capsule launches from Houston, TX on Thursday.

The capsule will take nine months to reach Mars.  Once there, the plan is for Yamster to orbit the planet four times, taking a number of photographs and atmospheric readings, and then use Mars’ gravity to slingshot back toward earth. 

Yamster is reportedly excited for the mission after two false starts earlier this year.

Super Relaxed Cat Mistaken for Throw Pillow

Pumpkin the cat was just relaxing on the couch, minding his own business when the unthinkable happened earlier today: he was mistaken for an accessory.  

“He was just so completely still, he really did look like a big, snuggly orange pillow,” said a source close to the situation, who wished to remain anonymous but swears it wasn’t her who lay down on the couch and put her head on Pumpkin’s belly.

Reportedly, the cat, “freaked out” by the sudden appearance of a person on his couch, jumped up, stalked away and has been hiding under the porch ever since.
