Baby Owl Announced as Alternate Host for Presidential Debate
When the third and final presidential debate of the 2012 election cycle convenes in Boca Raton, FL on October 22, CBS News correspondent Bob Schieffer is scheduled to be the host. However, should Schieffer be unable to perform his duties for any reason, the Commission on Presidential Debates has announced that a baby owl is the alternate moderator.
The owl, who is a rising media star, currently serves as a foreign affairs correspondent for CBS Radio-owned WBBM in Chicago.
“He’s really good at asking ‘who’ questions,” said the owl’s current boss, producer Lori McCall. "Admittedly, he’s less adept at the what, where, why and when queries…“
The focus of the debate will be foreign policy.

Local Dog to Teach Twitter Power User Seminar
According to the latest statistics, most dogs don’t know how to effectively use Twitter. "They generally just tweet about things they see – a bird in the yard, the mail being delivered, etc.,“ said canine social media expert, Tony Razzelli. "But rarely do you see dogs using Twitter for deeper discussions or for any sort of business networking.”
Tammy, a pup from Bakersfield, IA, is hoping to change that. Friends say Tammy is a Twitter power user and plans to pass her expertise on to other dogs at a free seminar this Monday evening at the Learning Annex in uptown.

Cat Pushes Fashion Envelope With New Glasses
When Reggie the cat needed new sunglasses, he could have gotten some standard aviators or wayfarers. Instead, he went a little avant garde.
“Maybe in high fashion circles, those wacky yellow frames are hip,” says Carrie Newman, a personal friend. “But let’s see him walk into the dry cleaner or CVS wearing them. They’d laugh him out of the room.”
