Kitten Loses Hide-and-Seek Tournament in Semi-Final Round
Many fans of the Gold Cup Hide-and-Seek Tournament, held annually in Peoria, IL, were excited about the prospects of a new contender – a fresh-faced kitten named Gus.
“Gus had everything going for him,” says Daniel Gibson, a writer for Sports Illustrated who has covered the Gold Cup for five years running. “He’s very small, very quiet and very grey. In short, easy to hide.”
But an upset came in the semi-final round, where Gus took a chance on a bowl that was just too shallow.
“He realized his mistake right away,” says Gibson. “But at that point, it was too late. Best he could do was ride out the decision. They found him about 12 seconds later, and he was eliminated.”

Dog Leading Nature Walks This Weekend
Looking for something to do this weekend? Head to the park for a free nature walk being led by local outdoors buff, Harvey. The 5-month-old dog might young, but he’s definitely not green when it comes to the great outdoors.
“Oh, he’s been coming to the park since he was a puppy,” said close friend and confidant Amanda Whitlow. “He knows this place backwards and forwards.”
The half hour walks will start today and tomorrow at 10am and 2pm and leave from just behind the third base dugout at the Little League field. If the turnout is good, Harvey plans to run walks every weekend this summer.
