Further evidence that the entertainment industry is going to the dogs: the nation’s first 24 hour television network aimed at canines has launched in San Diego. If things go well in the test market, aptly named “DogTV” plans to expand nationwide.
The channel provides first-of-its-kind programming aimed specifically at dogs. DogTV currently airs three types of programs: relaxation (soothing programs aimed at putting your pooch in a peaceful state), stimulation (simulated play with other dogs to get your pup off the couch and moving around), and exposure (meant to get your dog used to everyday situations, like riding in the car). Using a mix of 3-6 minute segments – dogs apparently have people-sized attention spans – DogTV offers what it calls “just the right balance for the daily routines of our beloved ‘stay-at-home’ dogs.”
The channel also streams online.
