Bunny Hops Into Governor’s Race
A bunny from Rhode Island has officially announced his intention to run for Governor of the state.
Sir Hops-a-Lot, who is running as a Republican on a platform that includes lowering the state sales tax and eliminating capital gain’s taxes on investments in RI businesses, is joining a wide open race. The state’s current governor, Lincoln Chafee, declined the seek a second term.
The bunny joins a GOP field that already includes Allan Fung, mayor of Cranston, and Ken Block, who was the nominee for the Moderate Party the last go around.
Some opponents have questioned whether the bunny is eligible to run for governor.
The “Ocean State Futures” political action committee is reportedly readying a campaign that will demand that Sir Hops-a-Lot produce his official birth certificate.
“‘Sir’ isn’t a title you see in America very often,” said the group’s spokesperson, Aaron Merrill via email. “We’re just saying…”
