Tiny Bunny Wins Gold in Ping Pong Tourney

Table tennis fans were on the edge of their seats as the Rabbit World Ping Pong Championships went into their final, 14th hour. Mug (pictured above), no bigger than a ping pong ball himself, emerged as the victor, and was awarded the gold medal and $500,000 prize.

Solar Powered Cat Shows Promise for Green Pet Industry

Let’s face it: Pets require a lot of energy. If you lament your high oil or coal bill after a romp with your furry friends, there’s good news on the horizon.

A prototype from pet R&D firm Catalyst Technical has the potential to change the feline fuel game. The Quinn XDS™ is almost entirely solar powered. Charge him for three-to-four hours in a sunny window and he’s good to go all day long.

While a spokesperson for Catalyst Technical says a commercially viable model of the Quinn may still be one or two years off, the proof-of-concept is an important step forward in green pet research.

Cute Chicks Spotted in Australia

Black-winged stilts are native to the shores of Australia, and while they’re not quite endangered, climate change poses a threat to their habitat. That’s why breeders at the Perth Zoo are happy to report the birth of four adorable chicks – “the first in a new generation of stilts,” according to the zoo’s website.
